Upcoming Regionals
So, if you haven't already heard, tomorrow is the Philly Regionals. And also, if you haven't already heard, I'm going to be joining this Regional. Its been far far too long since I dueled IRL, and it's a tad ironic that I'm thrusting myself into such a large gathering as my first personal test of my strength. I just hope I have enough cash to feed my appetite....
Schedule:
- Wake up somewhere between 6:30-7:00am
- Breakfast, push-ups, gather my shit, walk to the Philly Convention Center
- Obtain physical Konami ID card
- Duel, duel, duel, win, duel some more
Goals:
- Place top 8 (not losing more than 4 times)
- Get my namestake to my ZWC, and make Zombies a thing once again
- Get a shitton of free things
- Sell everything to help pay for my college tuition
So, wish me luck. This is a relatively big deal for me. It would also be nice to see some of you down there, so I can have people to talk to and such, so that I don't feel completely alone while I'm there. (I also secretly need cheerleaders)
I'll post how well I did after everything is over.

Re: Upcoming Regionals
So... My final record was 3-4. Because so many people showed (and even more after registration technically ended), any person that received an X-4 was automatically defaulted in the tournament. But I can break down my success:
Round 1:
ZWC vs Wind-Ups -- Loss: 2-0
No need to really break anything down. I lost 2-0, and every card i had that I sided I never drew.
Round 2:
ZWC vs Blackwings -- Win 2-0
Game 1: I was facing a 13 year old kid using blackwings. His first hand was horrible, and I started off with Pyramid Turtle antics and easily just rolled him over by my fourth turn.
Game 2: He let me go first, oddly, and so I set Pyramid Turtle again. However he summoned Sorroco, 3 Boras and 1 Gale, used Sorroco's effect and pierced my Turtle with Bora, leaving me with 1000LP after his first turn. Next turn I drew rabbit, went into Chidori, and wiped his field clean. He then drew, and activated, Whirlwind. Letting me basically trap him into drawing it again with Chidori. Easy wins.
Round 3:
ZWC vs Mermails -- Win: 2-1
Game 1: I didn't expect to win Game 1, because ZWC isn't prepared to face Mermails (with a near-perfect hand)...however, the side was designed to stop their plays dead. So, lost first game.
Game 2: Opened with Rabbit, Starlight Road, 2 Prohibitions, Soul Drain and D-Prison. Needless to say, my opponent didn't do very well.
Game 3: Repeat game 2, except I drew Turtle and Solemn Warning instead of D-Prison and Rabbit. Again, needless to say, I won.
Round 4:
ZWC vs Inzektors -- Win: 2-1
Game 1: I didn't expect to win against Inzektors in Game 1, but they never drew any cards that would either get Hornet into their hand, or Hornet into their grave. And also, since I main 1 Prohibition (after learning they were playing Inzektors), I called out Centipede and won without taking much damage.
Game 2: They literally started off with the perfect hand, whereas I (who sided quite well against them) did not. No Prohibitions, nothing to stop their Torrentials, and barely any monsters. I lost, pathetically.
Game 3: Started off with 2 Prohibitions, Starlight Road, both Solemns, and a Veiler. Although this duel took a while, due to me not drawing many monsters until late game, it shouldn't have taken us into overtime....my opponent was using Messenger of Peace to stall for time.
Round 5:
ZWC vs Mermails (again) -- Lose: 2-0
Game 1: Again, my deck can't just openly win against Mermails, especially if they start with a godly "IMMA OTK YOUR ASS RIGHT NOW" kind of hand.
Game 2: Sided HARD against them (Soul Drain is a pimp), but didn't draw a single one. So I lost, again.
Round 6:
ZWC vs Gravekeeper Monarchs -- Lose: 2-0
Game 1: They kept activating Necro Valley every time I played Zombie World, which made them able to tribute their monarchs (and the like) over and over. Which screwed me over....
Game 2: I sided well against them...but I didn't draw any of my sides (nor my Zombie World), so I lost...badly.
Round 7:
ZWC vs Chaos Agents -- Lose: 2-1
Game 1: They started off with a stupidly good hand. Heavy, Dark Hole, Reborn, Hyperion, Venus, and Solemn Warning. No amount of Rabbit/Tour Guide antics could fix that.
Game 2: I started off with a few Prohibitions, which kept them from using (literally) every card in their hand. I won on my second turn.
Game 3: They started off with Heavy, Dark Hole, Reborn, Hyperion, Venus, and Solemn Warning again.... So I lost, and I was finally eliminated from the tourney.
It's a crushing blow to my already tiny-ass ego. I thought I was doing so well, since I won 3 games in a row...but then I lost 3 times in a row. So....yeah.

Re: Upcoming Regionals
Well, you seemed to handle yourself well against Inzektors and your first Mermail matchup, so not all is lost.
See if you can look into some draw power for your build, since you not drawing into side deck cards appears to be your primary issue.....unfortunately iirc it is one of the hardest to solve.
Good work regardless. Glad to see that Zombie World did some good today.

It was either Drew or Rage. Because I don't know who is who.

I would have...if I had ANY recording equipment. And I'm certainly not stupid enough to bring my computer to Center Philly. And my phone's camera is busted....so...yey.
